Psychologist
Bachelor of Social Science - Psychology (Hons.)

Once in a workshop, Hana heard the saying “therapy is not about making people feel good, it’s about making people good at feeling”. This has stayed in her mind since she began working in 2019 as a psychologist across the private and not-for-profit sectors. Over time, she has developed an interest in working with symptoms of trauma, from helping clients overcome chronic, persistent feelings of self-doubt to managing intrusive flashbacks and reminders of distressing events from the past. She has seen the debilitating impacts of anxiety, panic, and depression, and the significant barriers that people have had to overcome in order to cope with life stressors, maintain relationships, and feel a sense of calm and peace within themselves.

Hana works primarily with Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) to support clients resolve symptoms related to past trauma, whether that be specific “big T” traumas or a history of complex attachment trauma. The EMDR framework involves processing trauma memories, but also building confidence and internal strengths to cope with whatever comes up.
Hana also uses parts work, which is a therapy approach that addresses differences and conflicts in the internal system of a person. For example, you might notice feeling two (or more) completely different things about the same question and feel like you are regularly stuck at an impasse with no clear solution. Parts work can help bring understanding to the different "agendas" between parts and move towards collaboration and resolution of these differences.

Outside of work, Hana plays quite a lot of Xbox and probably doesn't read enough.
